Trolling i Polen...

Hi Uffe
I tell you some words about me. I decided to start with sea trolling 4 years ago,
I started to look for any knowledge concerning this subject. Nobody knew anything about trout and salmon caught while trolling in the Baltic Sea. One thing which I new, was information that commercial fisherman got trout’s and salons in big quantity..
On beginning I pulled two rods without downriggers on Gdanska bay close to coast 200-300 m. and one day I had contact with a 3kg trout, but everything had to wait to next year.
Fisherman informed us that trout’s are close to cost when water start to be warmer, it meant March and April, same as in Denmark and Sweden, news from Scandinavia I got from my fisherman friend from Copenhagen (he does not make trolling)
We made planner boards of Coca Cola 2l bottles, and then tried with 9 rods, 6 on planners 3 on boat.
First day we got nothing, at evening somebody advised "look for warmer water", next days we have got 21 trout’s from 1,5 -4 kg and 19 same size the day after! IT WAS STARTED.
We caught many trout’s in the last two years but the biggest is 5,2 kg.
In this year I built full-equipped trolling boat with everything what is needed for salmon trolling.
All commercial fishermen suggested going to Russian border direction 13-20 miles from end of HEL peninsula.
This year we fished trout’s and tried some deep trolling but not far from the coast 3-4 miles without salmon success.
I kept my boat in Jastarnia and went in begin of May to bring it back to Warszawa (I live here)
That day the weather was perfect, we went 14 miles East of Hel, there is 75 -80 m
We got the first salmon 63cm and two trout’s 70 cm each, and I had contact with a fish, which I could not stop, it took about 100 m of line before it unhooked. The hook showed me that it was too soft for such a fish.
Now I am waiting for information’s from commercial fisherman when they start to get the salmon. (They fish with hooks called "takle" 12-14 km line with hook on 5m leader every 30m.) Floating nets are forbidden. It should start after 15th November.
You can feel invited any time for fishing trip.
I will send you some picture of fish and my old and actual boat.
By the way, I do not think is real dangerous here.
Once I lost a boat, guess where? In Denmark!
:-)
Keep smile
Wojtek
